Quinoa is one of the world’s most popular health foods. It is gluten free, high protein and rich in essential amino acids. There is just one problem. “It doesn’t taste good”, that’s what I hear from kids, whenever I prepare a meal with it.

After spending an afternoon on Google and Instagram for lip-smacking ways to prepare quinoa, I found this delicious recipe.

I prepared Quinoa and black beans patty and used it to create Burgers. My kids ate happily without any fuss

Ingredients

  1. Black beans/ Rajma (Boiled and drained): 1 Cup

  2. Quinoa (Boiled and drained) – 1.5 Cup

  3. Onion (finely chopped)- 1

  4. Green chilli- Finely chopped- ¾

  5. Bread crumbs- ½ cup

  6. Salt

  7. Coriander powder

  8. Red chilli, garam masala, Pav bhaji masala- as per taste

Recipe:

Step 1: Boil the black beans (rajma) and mash the boiled rajma. Remember to drain the rajma fully

Step2: Mix boiled Quinoa and mashed Rajma in a deep bowl.

Step 3: Add chopped onions, bread crumbs, spices and mix nicely

Step 4: Preheat the oven at 200C , (alternatively you can shallow fry the patties)

Step 5: Make round shaped patties from the mixed batter. Sprinkle some oil.

Step 6: Lay them on a well-greased baking pan

Step 7: Bake them on the lowest shelf in the oven at 220C for 20~25 mins and keep greasing the patties with oil after every 10 mins

Step 8: While the patties are getting baked, , chop cucumber, lettuce, tomato and onion in thin rings.

Step 9: Cook Burger buns slightly with butter on a tawa/griddle

Step 10: Prepare the classic burger sandwich with Quinoa and beans patty, salad rings, and Mayonnaise and any other dip of choice
